Ricordando Yuri….Remembering Yuri….

I messaggi arrivati dai giornalisti della rete di Greenaccord:
My condolences to his family. I met Yuri for the first time, sitting next

Dear Colleagues,
It was with deep sadness that I learnt of Yuri’s
passing. His passion for the protection of our
natural world and his dry wit were a joy to
experience. He was a delight to know. Heartfelt
condolences to his family.
Sincerely,
Leon Marshall
My condolences as well. I only met Yuri a few times but enjoyed our
conversations about journalism and the state of the world’s environment.
I guess I assumed there would always be time to continue the discussion.
Such is life. My heart goes out to his family.

Dear all,
It is very sad to learn that a fighter such as Yuri has left us. In a
region
where environmental awareness was just starting, Yuri was a brave soldier
bringing words of wisdom to those who were able to listen to him.
Yuri, please continue your work wherever you are!

Dear Friends,
I am saddened about the loss of Yuri and my thoughts are with his wife
and family in this difficult moment.
Whenever I lose a friend I try to think positively about the good time we
spent together, and the energy that we generated with our thoughts and
actions. And I always remind myself that it is what we do, say, and think
while we are together, that really matters.
Sail well, dear Yuri, we shall see you again in our meetings, talks, and
songs.

Dear Yuri,
I remember meeting you for the first time in the early ’90s, in
programmes for Central and Eastern European journalists. Since then, our
roads kept crossing across the world – and we met for the very last time
an year ago in Italy, at Greenaccord’s.
I very much admired your energy and your beliefs! I was surprised that
time not only didn’t erode them, but you seemed even more enthusiastic
year after year, writing, making plans. I also very much enjoyed your
company, talking about nature and travels while sipping from a glass of
good wine.
I’m going to miss you, Yuri! May you rest in peace!

Queridos amigos:
Zuliana Lainez

Greenaccord is used to adding firends to enlarge our family. Now we found
ourselves in an opposite situation: the loss of our dear Yuri.
Nonetheless, for those who believe that Man can reach eternity through
his works, and that life is a permanent flow, Yuri will be forever with
us and among Nature.
I have already sent my condolence to his family.

Dear Greenaccord friends,
Yuri was such an insightful and interesting person to talk with at
Greenaccord meetings! Like many others, I¹ll miss him. I much admired
what he was doing with his journal; he was helpful, too, personally on a
book I was editing on the great Russian agricultural scientist Nikolay
Vavilov.
My condolences to Yuri¹s family. A wonderfully dedicated man.

I had the information that Yuri got a cancer last year, and I prayed that
the disease could leave him. I am so sad that he left us.
I knew Yuri in 2005, the first time I attend Greenaccord forum.
We talked a lot. We both studied physics, and we shared many songs we
familiar. Many Chinese are able to sing Russian songs, in fact, we
learned them as Soviet songs.
We had many idea on environmental problems. I introduced my paper on
garbage and industrial civilization to him. He translated my draft to
Russia, and integrated some new material, and published it in the
magazine he worked.
That’s the our only co-worked article, and my first article published in
foreign language.
I met him in 2009 again (I wonder if I also met him in 2008 or 2007). He
told that he hope to visit China, and I started to find a chance.
I try to organize a conference on garbage in Beijing, and I plan to
invite him to attend, but I was failed to apply the fund.
I can not believed that when I received an email from his wife that he
got a cancer. He looks so energetic, and he is so young. But I did not
have the further information until I read Alfonso’s email.
I feel so sorry for that we lost a Greenaccord friend, Greenaccord lost a
prominent environmental journalist.
He will live in our memory, forever.
