School Plan Salto Grande Dam extends department schools Black River – April 7, 2012

Planning for the Dam “Salto Grande” for the year 2012, basically covers issues related to the plant itself for maintenance and very important investment and training in human resources. A particular issue that is interesting is that this year to rescue the Uruguayan delegation of the dam has been built under the Plan for Social Responsibility, the department of Black River and its schools and Primary Education.
The School Plan was designed eight years ago told REPUBLIC Engineer Gabriel Rodriguez, President of the Uruguayan delegation in the work, and indicated that it is “closer Salto Grande” to schools and bring them to the dam mainly trying awareness on the issue renewable energy, sustainable energy and efficient management of energy, then what you do basically is to move children from schools, they do a tour and are given a free lunch are remote locations.

A dam which means over 50% of electricity demand in Uruguay, this means that if the dam did not exist we would have serious problems or energy should be generated by other means that do not possess, the stated percentage is far and therefore is much the importance thereof.
Obviously over time and to increase consumption – as has been happening in recent years – and being – to some extent – topeada generating capacity that impact is going to diminish and will have an impact or have other sources of weight energy generation such as wind or heat, but in this present Salto Grande is vital for Uruguay, not only for power generation but by the ability of transmitting it.
In times of extreme drought in our country, being completely stop the dam, Salto Grande has served to transmit energy from Brazil to Argentina, so both generation and transmission are important for Uruguay
